Women’s bodies are no longer a thing of beauty, but rather something they measure their self-worth. If they are reed thin in appearance, they are beautiful and worth it, and if they are plump, curvy or rounded – well then they have no right to feel beautiful.
Let’s Meet Megan
And this is exactly the kind of vicious cycle that beautiful Megan Jayne Crabbe was caught up in. A self-confessed recovered anorexic and recovered self-loather – Megan now has her website that advocates being body positive and not being too concerned about your appearance or your rolls of belly fat. From being literally on her death bed due to her anorexia, Megan switched to binge eating, hating herself when she gained weight and had failing health when she lost it (the weight). After self-loathing and abusing her body for years, Megan finally discovered the secret to happiness – that it’s not related to your appearance, your weight or the dang weighing scale.
The Important Stuff
Megan managed to make a body positive transformation; instead of changing her body, she changed her mindset. She chose health over the so-called definition of beauty and is now at her happiest – with her self-proclaimed and advertised belly rolls, softness and thunder thighs. This is not to say that she got overweight or obese to an unhealthy level – she merely eats like a normal woman, exercises like a normal woman and finally, is a very beautiful, healthy-bodied normal woman; who loves her body with all its nature-made imperfections.
Positivity Over Appearance
As Megan puts it on her blog succinctly, “The scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure character, beauty, talent, purpose, possibility, strength or love.” So that’s it, this was the before-and-after showing that there’s one thing far more precious than the transformation in appearance. And that is a transformation in your thought process – and an ability to love yourself, no matter what… Featured photo credit: http://www.bodyposipanda.com/ via instagram.com
