Isn’t it about time you returned the favor and gave your bathroom some much-needed TLC?

Follow these easy and budget-friendly tips to organize your bathroom and turn it into a relaxing oasis without breaking the bank!

1) Get rid of clutter.

Go through all of the cabinets, drawers and shelves in your bathroom—including that drawer you’re afraid to open! Weed out old, expired, or unwanted/unneeded bath and beauty products, medications and cleaning supplies. Be sure to extend your clutter-clearing search to items you might not consider as clutter such as worn-out and threadbare linens, opened bandages, broken appliances, bath accessories and beauty tools. Check your local municipality’s website for information on how to dispose of expired medications and broken appliances safely and properly in your area.

2) Store bath products in smaller, simpler containers.

Eliminate chunky, clunky and garish containers from your bathroom in favor of smaller, simpler and streamlined containers that are easier to handle. For an instant apothecary-type jar, raid the recycling bin for sturdy glass containers, such as glass pasta sauce containers. Sterilize the containers in boiling water and store cotton balls, swabs, bandages, bobby pins and other similar items inside. Decant large amounts of bath products, such as those mega-sized lotions or soaps you buy at big box stores, into smaller plastic containers for easy daily use and handling.

3) Lay out AM and PM prep stations.

Make your morning and evening care routines run like clockwork with body and beauty prep stations. Place everything you need to get ready for each AM/PM prep session in one or two sturdy medium-sized containers on your bath counter so they’ll be ready for use in a pinch. Other ideas include: clearing out specific areas for your respective AM and PM notions and potions, such as a shelf in a medicine cabinet or area in a bathroom drawer, going vertical by affixing a plastic hanging holder to the back of the bathroom or cabinet door, or using a small face towel on your bathroom counter as a controlled storage space for your morning and evening bath items.

4) Make room for beauty and bath.

Do you really need that two-gallon sized container of body exfoliant sitting on your bathroom counter? What about that boxed collection of 700 sterile bandages teetering on the wall behind your towels? Make a quick survey of items you don’t use on a regular basis and store these materials in a nearby linen closet so they are out of your way. Do you use these items frequently? Follow the advice in point #2 and decant only what you need to a smaller, more manageable container for frequent or daily use.

Wash away the blues or a hard day at work with a relaxation kit specially outfitted with your favorite bath soak crystals, oils, brushes, candles and bath pillow. Do you love to do your nails at home? You could put together a manicure/pedicure kit with nail clippers, files, buffer, nail polish, cotton balls, cotton swabs, toe separators, lotion, exfoliant and nail polish remover. Get ready for scratches and scrapes by preparing your own first aid kit with bandages, gauze, antibacterial cream/ointment, hydrogen peroxide and other items. Collect your favorite and must-have supplies in a small to medium sized waterproof container and store your kit in a bathroom cabinet or nearby closet for easy access. How does it feel to have a refreshed, revived and organized bathroom?
